I llove your wisdom....and today....the perfect message came at the perfect time.I lost my job today....and that's okay. I actually discovered joy.....and I didn't have a choice either...but I always take the high road! Thanks Hugh for making it colorful!

I am a spelling policeman, also...However, in this case I thought it might be deliberate, because even though it jumped out at me, it didn't detract from the joy of the brilliant drawing. So, I wondered...Maybe the point is that there is always some little thing wrong with every thing, and we tend to focus on the little thing that is wrong rather than the overwhelming part that is pure joy. Either way, it's a great drawing, and very true!

Totally agree. I was jobless, death spiralling in depression, I started writing. And the whole world changed.

I'm struggling to find the joy just for today, but I know it will pass. There is no way to happiness, happiness is the way.

This is THE KEY to an incredible life (and Hugh, I always thought of you as sort of an optimistic curmudgeon - what's up with this?). Anyhow, attitude is everything. When the whole world has PhD's and MBA's, attitude is the big differentiator. Nice. Thanks for picturizing positivity, Hugh.

Pretty observant for a relatively young person. sometimes I wonder if you actually follow what you preach as some of your cartoons are ego centric and a bit cynical toward those who may not share your view. but, that from a very happy 87 year old who does practice the above and has observed quite a bit through the depression, service as a Marine pilot in WWII and the Korean, and career in constructio as CEO of construction and Architecture/Engineering companies. Do enjoy viewing daily Best of good wishes for a truly happy life.. the only kind worth living. Mantra: Stop Learning .. Stop living!

It's the spelling police again--Another great work by Hugh, but I thought you'd want to know that he left out the "c" in "discovered".

I FOUND JOY

Sometimes being happy is just a choice. It's just what you look for every day. In your work, in love, in friendships.

It's really about how you view your place on earth. You look for joy, and that's what you'll find.

We all know people who make the 'other' choice. Nothing is good enough. They find fault everywhere. Their default mode is discontent.

For a lucky few, they eventually reach the abyss. The point at which being confronted with the dire-ness which is their life, becomes transformative.

Instead they choose joy.

Everything becomes better.

It takes nothing more than changing an attitude.

Today, take the hand of someone who you think should choose differently.
